Since getting into Progress Wrestling a year or so ago, I’ve been riding high on Marty Scurll. In honor of his Bullet Club initiation, here’s a short primer of some of his best matches.
You’re going to want to know his name. Scurll is the next big thing and with all due respect to Lex Luger, he is the total package. He’s committed to his character, he can talk, he can wrestle, and he has some of the most versatile looks around. Enjoy some of Scurll’s finest moments.
Chris Hero vs. Marty Scurll – Progress 31
You can enjoy a little summary of the feud between Scurll and Hero, but you’ll mostly likely need a Progress Wrestling subscription to watch the entire match. The match shows off Scurll and Hero’s versatility, along with entertaining storytelling.
Mark Haskins vs. Jimmy Havoc vs. Marty Scurll – Progress Chapters 36-42
Haskins, Havoc, and Scurll had a long feud, especially by Progress standards where the talent comes and goes frequently. Not only was this some of Progress Wrestling’s best storytelling, it was some of the best storytelling anywhere. These matches set Scurll apart from the rest.
Marty Scurll vs. Will Ospreay vs. AJ Styles – Uprising 2015
Yes, that AJ Styles. Pure, solid wrestling, and no one gets upstaged by Will Ospreay‘s acrobatics.
Marty Scurll vs. Will Ospreay– High Stakes 2016
For many folks out there in cyber space, this is considered one of wrestling’s best matches of 2016 and I don’t know if I can deny that. It’s hard to find a bad Scurll/Ospreay match.
Marty Scurll vs. Zack Sabre Jr. – PWG Mystery Vortex
You have to ignore the fact that it appears they are wrestling in your high school gym. This is some of the finest technical wrestling as you’ll ever see. There isn’t a flip or a fly to be found here.
I would be remiss if I left out Marty Scurll‘s promos. His promos remind you that he’s earned ‘The Villain’ moniker. He’s creepy, he’s mean, and he’s always entertaining. I will leave you with my current favorite promo and something recent from his current Ring of Honor run.
